Blue Box Recycling To have a blue or grey box delivered (limit 2 boxes per residence) please call 739-4219 Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Barrie residents only. Blue and Grey Boxes are available for pick up at the Environmental Centre at 272 Ferndale Drive North, Tuesday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. They are also available Saturdays at the Household Special Waste Depot, also located at 272 Ferndale Dr. N. Each resident should use 2 blue boxes or one grey and one blue box to separate materials properly. The first two recycling boxes are provided at no charge. There may be a charge of $5.00 for each additional box. Residents are required to place garbage, recyclables and yard waste at curbside on their collection day by 7 a.m. to ensure collection. Collection trucks will not be sent back into areas where these materials have been placed out late. Please call 739-4219 for more information about Barrie’s Waste Management programs.
Over 500 million containers are returned each year, which is about 80 - 90 per cent of all those containers manufactured and sold. Of course, many of the balance are accounted for by the "blue box" program and are recycled, so our land fills are not burdened with unnecessary waste materials.
