Bridlewood & Bridlewood Creek are located south of Fish Creek Provincial Park and west of MacLeod Trail, between 162nd Avenue to the north and Marquis of Lorne Trail (Highway 22X) and the spawling Spruce Meadows equestrian complex to the south. This community is adjacent to the Somerset station at the south end of the LRT transit system.
Schools
Public school pupils are bused to Willow Park Elementary, John Ware Junior High in Pump Hill, and the new Centennial High School in Sundance.
Separate school students are bused to St. Catherine Elementary in Canyon Meadows, St. Bonaventure Junior High in Bonaventure, and the new Bishop O'Byrne High School.
Shopping
Shopping for the area is east off Macleod Trail in Shawnessy Village, Shawnessy Village, complete with a Safeway, Superstore, a Chapters and a new "Coliseum style" movie multiplex. The largest area shopping centre is Southcentre Mall.
Recreation
This community is close to the Fish Creek Recreation Centre, which includes a YMCA and a public library. There is a multiplex theatre nearby on MacLeod Trail. Bridlewood has a tot lot with playground equipment, a 3.5-acre dry pond (seasonal) park and a soccer field. Access to nearby Fish Creek Provincial Park will be via 24 Street SW (once all the roads in Bridlewood are completed). The community is connected to the Calgary recreational pathway system.
There is wetland maintained by Ducks Unlimited on the northwest corner of 14th Street and Highway 22x, complete with viewing stations (no boating allowed). Bridlewood is 1 kilometre north of the world-famous Spruce Meadows equestrian facility (on 14 St SW).
Homes
Bridlewood is a very new community, with 600 lots. The neighbourhoods of Bridlewood, Bridlecrest, and Bridlewest have starter and move-up homes available, as well as some multi-unit condominiums. Builders in Bridlewest include Excel and Centrex.
