Castleridge, Falconridge neighbourhoods

These communities lie between 48th Ave (McKnight) and 64th Ave and NE and east of 36th Street. These communities were developed in the 1980s and 1990s. The community is primarily low density residential with a mix of single family homes and townhomes. Castleridge is the neighbourhood between 36nd Street and Falconridge Blvd NE and all the streets begin with "Castle." Falconridge is the neighbourhood between 52nd Street and 68th Street and all the streets begin with "Fal." The area is close to the airport, accessed via McKnight Blvd, but also lies underneath the secondary east-west runway often used for landings.
Schools
The community is well-schooled with three public elementary and two Catholic elementary schools. Catholic board high schools students go to schools in the neighbourhood, while public high school students must attend their school just to the south.
Shopping
The area is serviced by the Castleridge Mall on McKnight Blvd (48th Ave) and is very close to the 32nd Street NE shopping corridor, with Sunridge Mall and the city's IKEA store.
Recreation
The area has a number of large parks. The new Prairie Winds Park, with an outdoor pool, is on the western side of the community. There are a number of restaurants (mostly chains) along 32nd Avenue, east of 36th Street NE. The closest movie theatres are at London Towne Square. The city-owned McCall Lake golf course is west on 32nd Avenue, just before the Deerfoot Trail.
Homes
The community is mostly single family starter and move-up homes, with some multi-unit condominiums closer to 68 Street NE and along Falconridge Crescent.
