Coral Springs is north of McKnight Boulevard, and east of 68th Street. The
neighbourhood is not only close to the airport, but to major highways to the north and to the east. The Trans-Canada Bypass around Calgary is planned for just east of Coral Springs.
Schools
Public school students attend Colonel Macleod Elementary/Junior High in Regal Terrace, Terry Fox School (year-round) in Falconridge, Sir Wilfrid Laurier Junior High in Radisson Heights and James Fowler High in Highwood.
Separate school pupils attend Monsignor A.L. Hetherington Elementary in Coral Springs, John 23rd Junior High in Falconridge, Bishop McNally Junior/Senior High in Falconridge.
Shopping
Retail outlets, including a Safeway and plenty of restaurants and fast food, are found in neighboring Falconridge and Castleridge. The nearest big shopping centre is the Sunridge Mall and the 36th Street NE shopping area.
Recreation
The 16-acre lake and two three-acre parks provide lots of activities including beach volleyball, boating, fishing, swimming, hockey and skating. The lake are stocked with
rainbow trout from the on-site hatchery. The residents association also hosts an annual Stampede party, a Winterfest every February, a September family corn roast and Halloween dance. The residents' association charges a yearly fee to maintain the lake and parks. For lake lots it's $500; homes with lake access (usually through a private path) pay $350; the rest are charged $250.
There's the Don Hartman North-East Sportsplex on 68th Street, with twin ice arenas, a lounge and gym. The bike/running pathways in Coral Springs provide a series of exercise stations. There are also three ball diamonds and a soccer field beside Monsignor Hetherington Elementary school.
Homes
Community construction began in 1991, and has 1,400 houses. This is now a mature neighbourhood, with only resale homes available.
