Dalhousie, Edgemont neighbourhoods

These communities lies west of Shaganappi Trail, north of Crowchild and east of Sarcess Trail. Dalhousie has a gently sloping landscape and was built up in the 1970s, with a mix of single-family homes, townhomes and some apartment buildings. Edgemont is a newer (and more hilly) community, mostly built in the 1980s and 1990s, and extends around the west edge of Nose Hill Park north to Country Hills Boulevard. Homes in Edgemont have good views of the mountains and the city's downtown core. Proximity to the Nose Hill Park is the dominant feature of the community. Country Hills Boulevard gives fast access to the city's airport, while the newly opened Stoney Trail gives fast access to the mountains.
Schools
The area is new but has 4 public and two Catholic elementary schools. High school students of both boards attend at schools east of Shaganappi Trail. The community is close to the University of Calgary, just down Crowchild Trail.
Shopping
The community has a number of shopping options incluing several small plazas along Edgemeont Boulevard and several larger malls including (in the south): Northland Village Shoppes on Shaganappi, Dalhousie Station on 53rd Street; and (in the north) Country Hills Village on Country Hills Boulevard.
Recreation
Recreation in the area is dominated by the large and open Nose Hill Park, though Edgemont has a number of narrow connected parks (and recreational pathways) linking the various areas. The former Edgemont Club was recently acquired by a fitness chain to become a 24 hour fitness facility. For movies, head to Northland Village Shops or west to Crowfoot Centre.
Homes
Edgemont (north of John Laurie Blvd) is mostly single family homes, along hilly winding streets on the west edge of Nose Hill. Edgemont has some multi-unit dwellings just southwest of the Shagannappi-Edgemont intersection. Dahousie has some high sensity condos, rental usits and high-rises along Dalhouise Drive and Dalton Drive, just west of Shaganappi, with single family homes in the ret of the neighbourhood.
