Home: Douglasdale & Douglasglen neighbourhoods

[ Other Neighbourhoods | SE Neighbourhoods Map ]

Douglasdale and Douglasglen are wrapped between the Deerfoot Trail and the southern stretches of the Bow River. Deerfoot access is at Douglasdale Boulevard (24th St SE) on the north and 130th Avenue to the south. Access from Macleod Trail is via Anderson Road and the Bow Bottom Trail - Anderson - Deerfoot spaghetti interchange. The entire community is built around the Douglasdale Estates Golf Club, with houses on both sides of the fairways.

Schools
Public board students attend Lake Bonavista Elementary, Lord Beaverbrook High in Acadia or Dr. E.P. Scarlett High in Canyon Meadows.

Separate board pupils go to St Boniface elementary in Bonavista, St. Bonaventure junior high and Bishop Grandin Senior High in Haysboro.

Shopping
Shopping for the area is at a strip plaza near the golf course club house. There's also Douglas Square at Deerfoot, and to the north in Douglas Glen. To the south, there's a strip mall on McKenzie Lake Boulevard, with additional stores in nearby McKenzie Towne. The largest area shopping centre is Southcentre Mall (Anderson Rd at Macleod Trail).

Recreation
On the west edge of the community, on both banks of the Bow River, is Fish Creek Provincial Park. The park also encompasses Lake Sikome, Fish Creek and connects fully to Calgary's extensive recreational pathway system, via a new pedestrian bridge just south of the Deerfoot Trail bridge.

Homes
The community was begun in 1982, and now has over 2,000 homes. New homes are in Douglas Glen, with 200 of 700 lots now built, just north of the Deerfoot Trail (access via 24th Street SE).
Starter homes are being built by Albi, Avi, Jager, Jayman, and Shane. Move-up homes (in The Parks) are being built by Beattie, Glenwood, Sterling and in Douglas Glen by Gemcraft, Jager, Jayman, Today's Homes, Shane.
