The Charlottetown area has several shopping complexes, plus a few "Plazas" at intersection of major traffic arteries. Here are the larger "Shopping Centres," that provide fully-enclosed shopping comfort. There are malls outside of Charlottetown, in the smaller Island communities and also the popular PEI Factory Outlet Shops on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Charlottetown.

Shops catering to tourists are typically open between 8 and 10 am and clsoe between 8 and 10 pm. Establishments catering to Islanders tend to be open Monday to Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, and open late (till 8 or 9) on Friday nights. From Victoria Day to Labour Day, most liquor stores are open 10 am to 10 pm, though Cardigan, O'Leary, Queen Street, Wellington and Tyne Valley outlets which close at 6 on Saturdays, and Alberton which closes at 6 pm on Mondays.
