Homes: West Edmonton Mall
This community is on the west side of 170th Street, clustered around the mammoth West Edmonton Mall, between Stony Plain Rd to the north and Whitemud Drive to the south. There are several neighbourhoods in this area (from east to west): Summerlea, and Thornecliffe (collectively also called Springfield), La Perle, Terra Losa, Belmead, and Aldergrove (collectively called Primrose). Most of this community was built since the late 197s as West Ed began going through its growth "phases". This community has a full range of single-family homes, duplexes and town houses, in the range of $95,000 to $200,000 (with condos averaging about $30,000 less). There also a number of motels on Stony Plain Road, in case the in-laws come visiting. 
SchoolsThis community has three public elementary schools and two Catholic elementary schools, though the high schools for both boards are a bus ride away. Shopping Retailing in the area is dominated by West Edmonton Mall (the world's largest, with 800 stores & services) to the west, though the smaller Meadowlark Park (to the east) is popular for the speed of getting in & out. Recreation West Edmonton Mall, about a mile to the west of the community dominates area recreation. There are three multiplex cinemas, and indoor amusement park (the world's largest), a wave pool and waterslide (the world's largest), indoor mini golf, and lots more, all surrounded by (the world's largest) parking lot. There is a YMCA recreational facility across Whitemud, just to the south of the community. Community Map
