Downtown Edmonton's downtown has many fine shops for office workers and business travellers. All the major department stores are downtown, centred around the Eaton Centre, Commerce Place, Manulife Place and Edmonton Centre. Eaton Centre even has movie theatres and an indoor mini-golf course. These shopping centres are all connected to major buildings by the Pedway walkways.

Whyte Avenue/Old Strathcona Crowd shopping in Old Stratchcona During Fringe Festival This district along Whyte Avenue has many old buildings, and is a low-density but high-character pedestrian shopping area. It is situated between Gateway Blvd (Calgary Trail) North and the University of Alberta, and is popular for its many restaurants and bars.

West End A short drive west of the downtown core, at 124th Street between Jasper and Stony Plain Road you'll find a quaint shopping district many turn of the century buildings. This neighbourhood is anchored by the High Street Mall, with many shops and boutiques, but the area is bestknown for its cluster of fine art galleries

West Edmonton Mall West Edmonton Mall is a shopping experience "West Ed" is the world's largest shopping mall, with over 800 stores and services. In addition to shopping, the mall has the world's largest indoor waterslide, largest wave pool, the world's largest indoor rollercoaster (in an amusement park and arcade), and even submarines (the world's 4th largest fleet). The stores include 210 women's shops, 35 men's stores, 55 shoe shops, 35 jewelry shops, 11 major department stores, and over 100 restaurants and eateries inlcuding Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood and Hooter's. Even a hotel.

Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard Gateway Boulevard (formerly Calgary Trail) is a high-traffic retail street with all of the "category killer" box stores and fast food chains, especially in the south end near South Edmonton Commons. Gateway Boulevard has stores on both sides of the street, though the northbound and southbound lanes north of 30th Ave are separated by a city block, with even more stores in between. Its a great place for suburban family shopping.
