Transportation: Taxis
There is good variety taxi companies in Edmonton. Some take telephone reservations (the favorites among the business crowd is Skyline) while others have stands at major shopping malls or hotels.
Rates for taxis are $2.50 to start (including the first 210 metres) + $.20 for
each additional 210 metres. You can usually get around downtown for under $5, and around the central area for about $7.
Oh, yes, and if your driver was courteous and helpful, it is the custom to tip
him (or her)! Tips on tipping.
Edmonton International Airport is served by Yellow Cab, Prestige Cabs, Barrel Taxi, and Prestige Limousines. Any cab company or driver may drop off passengers at Edmonton International Airport; and may pick up passengers if an arrangement has been made in advance between the passenger and the driver or company. Provision may be made for special needs vehicles by calling the cab company or the Ground Transportation Office in advance.
Taxis cost from the airport are about $45-50 to downtown, $30 to the southside, and $50-50 to the area around West Edmonton Mall.
