The Fraser Valley is that portion of BC's "Lower Mainland" that extends east of Vancouver, and includes the communities from Langley east to Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission to Hope, and then north up the Fraser to where it join the Thompson River. The area mixes urban and rural in a unique patchwork.

Because of the region's proximity to the Trans-Canada Highway, the various rural communities are a popular stopping off point for travelers. Harrison Hot Springs, north of the Fraser, Cultus Lake and Bridal Veil Falls to the south, and the Manning Provincial Park wilderness is to the east of Hope.
