Transportation: Fredericton's Airport, YFC
Fredericton's airport has been operating since 1951, and expanded in the early 1960s and again in the mid-1980s. In 2001, the airport was privatized and turned over to the Greater Fredericton Airport Authority. The Fredericton Airport is serviced by Air Canada, Delta Airlines, and Capital Airways. The Fredericton Flying Club, Norfolk Aerial Spray, Diamond Construction and Trans-Maritime Helicopters Ltd. are also based here. In addition, the Airport serves the military transport needs of Canadian Forces Base Gagetown The Airport has two runways: 09/27, which is New Brunswick's longest runway at 8010 ft; and 15/33 is 6000 ft The Airport Terminal Building facilities including a restaurant and lounge, gift shops, meeting and conference facilities and a Business Centre. This centre is equipped with telephone and fax services, a computer work station, printer, and no-charge internet access. A small meeting and conference area is also available. There are over 300 parking spaces available., including fifty-six short-term parking metered parking spaces for dropping off or picking up travellers, and plenty of long-term parking. Please note that Canadian change is required for the Short-term meters, with a change machine in the Arrivals Area of the main terminal. Rates for short-term parking are $0.25/eight minutes or $2.00/hour. The rates for long-term parking are $1.25 per hour, $7.00 per day, or $36.00 per week. You can pay by Cash, Debit, Master Card, Visa or American Express. From the airport, the best way into town is by taxi, with service from the airport is provided by Trius. You can reach them at 506-454-4444. You can even call for special needs for disabled persons. The 12 km route from the airport to downtown will typically cost $17-$20 You can also rent-a-car (cost varies).
