The Town of Grimsby lies on the western edge of the Niagara Peninsula, and is on the eastern outskirts of Hamilton, nestled between the southwest shore of Lake Ontario and the base of the Niagara Escarpment. It is a picturesque agriculture-based community of 20,000, with a small town atmosphere with all the modern amenities of a larger city. The Town of Grimsby has undergone a transformation with a substantial housing boom over the past decade, and is a popular bedroom community for Hamilton, with a lower cost of living and better quality of life.. Specialty crops include many orchards of various tender fruit and grape vineyards.

For Erie has a number of shops clustered in its downtown, north of the Peace Bridge, along Garrison Rd to the west of the bridge, and another significant retail cluster in Ridgeway. The nearest shopping malls are to the north in Niagara Falls, west in Port Colborne, or across the border in Buffalo.

Recreation
Grimsby has 6 community centres, 3 ice arenas, 3 marinas, 21 baseball diamonds, and 6 public tennis course. The Niagara Escarpment, at its highest point in the Niagara region, and the Bruce Trail recreational pathway wind above the urban portion of the community. 40 Mile Creek is popular for recreational water sports. Also south of town is Beamer Memorial Park atop the Niagara Escarpment, popular for hiking and bird-watching, with its panoramic view of Lake Ontario.
