The public transit system (operated by the Region of Waterloo ) has an extensive network of routes throughout Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and the Village of St. Jacobs. FaresYou must pay bus fares with exact change, since the drivers do not carry change. Put you fare directly into the farebox. Coins go in the left slot, and tickets and bills go in the right.
Children under five years of age, accompanied by a parent or other person having charge of them, ride free of charge, provided they do not occupy seats to the exclusion other passengers. GRT has a special day pass for $5.00 which allows unlimited travel on all regular scheduled GRT routes, for a family to travel together on a Sunday. Transfers You will need a "transfer" if you need to use more than one bus to complete your trip, and are using cash or tickets as fare payment. Be sure to request the correct transfer as you board the bus: Passenger can use their transfer for 90 minutes to transfer between any buses. This transfer can be used for stop-overs and return trips. Transfers are accepted at any GRT bus stop and for buses going in any direction. Late Night Service GRT's "Late Night Loop" departs the Charles St. Transit Terminal at 1:00am and 2:00am, this late-night route travels along King Street to Wilfrid Laurier, the University of Waterloo and the Lakeshore neighbourhood, then loops around to return to the terminal. Details are in the Route 7 schedule. iXpress service Connecting 13 stations between Conestoga Mall , U Waterloo, Uptown Waterloo, Fairview, Cambridge Centre, and Ainslie Terminal It runs with 15 minute rush hour frequency and 30 minutes mid-day and evenings to 11 pm. Travel end-to-end in 75 minutes In September 2007 new evening service and Sunday service is scheduled. Guelph TransitGuelph has a very extensive transit system. Buses operate Monday through Saturday, leaving St. George's Square at quarter to the hour and quarter after, commencing at 5:45 a.m. and every half hour until the last trip out of the Square at 12:15 a.m.Bus fare is $2.00 (exact change), but you can buy books of tickets for $1.70 Adults, $1.35 Seniors/Students.
