Homes: Mississauga Neighbourhood
One of the most affluent cities in the Greater Toronto Area, Mississauga became a city in 1974 by the amalgamation of several communities, and has grown dramatically since then. The city has 680,000 residents, who take pride the in the variety of older and newer dwellings including both semi-detached and detached homes, bungalows and townhouses. The residents also take comfort in the community's safety and low crime rate. In the summer months, the waterfront along Lake Ontario is the "hot spot", with a 22 km waterfront trail system that connects several parks, nature reserves, and marinas for the benefit of pedestrians, runners, cyclists and in-line skaters. Marinas can be found at Port Credit, at the mouth of the Credit River, and at the Lakefront Promenade a mile to the east.
