Transportation: Limos
Why not really stretch out your legs on your next trip? For the cost of not
much more than an airport taxi round trip, you can make a BIG impression on that
client, loved one, or visiting relative.
Limo rates are typically in the $75 - $200 per hour depending on
the size and type of limousine you've hired. Local limousines are available in 6, 8,
10, even 14 passenger configurations. Most limousines are luxury cars like Cadillacs, Lincolns,
or Viscounts, but some limo companies include specialty cars like Bentleys and
Rolls Royces in their fleets. If you want something more subtle, but still chauffeured,
many companies offer sedan service.
The following features are typical with most limos: tinted window
glass, privacy divider (the glass that rolls up between passengers and driver),
TV and VCR, a plush or leather interior, cellular phone and moon roof (powered
sun roof).
Some companies require a one or three hour minimum booking (especially at
certain times of the year). Some have an add-on
charge for additional passenger pickups. Champagne (when it is not part of a
package) and any long-distance calls on the cell phone are extra. If you are using
a limo for an extended period of time, many companies will offer you a lower rate
for "stand by" time. Remember that each limousine company has
different services, vehicles, and prices. Ask them for details.
Many limo companies offer a variety of special packages:
- Graduations - discounted rates for students
- Weddings - including decorations, red carpet and champagne
- Concerts - transportation to and from, plus dinner
- Stags, Stagettes - book an evening, including no-lines at popular nightclubs
Pearson Airport Limousines
The Greater Toronto Area (often called "the GTA") has a number of tariff zones, depending on where you are going to. That means that you do not need a taxi meter on, and that it does not matter if you are driving at 3 am in the morning or during rush hour. These rates are GST-in, but do not include tip to the driver, or tolls on Highway 407
The tariff limo rates from the airport are only about 10% higher than taxi rates. If there are passenger drop offs enroute, there is an extra charge of $10 per passenger dropped off.
