Brock University Brock University is located in St Catharines on the Niagara Escarpment off Glenridge Avenue.. It opened in 1964, and has over 80 staff teaching 11,000 full and part-time students, and it has earned an outstanding reputation for teaching excellence. Academics are grouped into six faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics and Science, Business, Physical Education and Recreation, and Education. Ridley College St. Catharines is home to the historic and stately Ridley College, which counts among its alumni the Royal family's Prince Andrew. Established as a boys' school in 1888, it was the first boarding facility of its kind in Canada. It became co-educational in 1973, and now almost half of Ridley's students are girls. It is still considered one of the best university preparatory schools, and is famous for its rowing program. Niagara College Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology has 450 staff and 5,000 full-time students. It opened its doors in 1967 in Welland and has expanded into St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, and Niagara-on-the-Lake, offering more than 70 post-secondary diploma and graduate certificate programs, bachelor degree programs, and apprenticeship training. NU is a Vincentian University, one of 3 in the US along with St. John's and DePaul The College of Education is NCATE accredited and is one of only 6 schools in NY to hold this status.
