First settled in the early 1800s, York Region was both a farming and industrial centre in the "Golden Horseshoe".
Now a largely suburban community, with lots of rural open spaces, York Region stretches north toward Lake Simcoe. The York Region has several wonderful Conservation Areas with unusual natural features.

The Okanagan-Shuswaps is a string of modest population centres along the #1 Trans-Canada Highway (Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Sicamous and Revelstoke) along with several communites along Highway #97 along Lake Okanagan: Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton.
