Regina home neighbourhoods: Uplands/Churchill Downs
Uplands is a small community north of the Ring Road, on the east side of Highway 6 (Albert St). Most of Uplands was built 25-30 years ago and has a variety of middle-income housing. The community is a bit isolated with no direct access to either Highway 6 or the Ring Road. Its proximity to an oil refinery, to the east, can make the air unpleasant with the wrong wind. Churchill Downs is south of the Ring Road and east of Albert Street. The area has a number of larger homes, especially compared to older homes further south. City View is the Neighbourhood closest to the Northgate Mall.
Schools
The community has four public elementary and two Catholic schools, as well as Robert Usher High School. The SIAST 8 Street North Campus is in the neighbourhood and the Maxwell Crescent Campus is close-by via the Ring Rd.
Shopping
Northgate mall is on the west edge of the neighbourhood, and Victoria Square is easily accessible via the Ring Rd.
Recreation
Mount Pleasant Park (with an outdoor speed skating oval) is on the eastern edge of the community, and the IPSCO Wildlife Park is a kilometre to the north. There is an ice arena just off Broad Street, as is the Highland Club (Curling) further south.

Homes in this area come in a wide range, and include detached and semi-detached homes, low-cost multiple-housing units, condominiums, as well as some higher-priced homes. House prices in Uplands range from $62,000 to $125,000, in Churchill Downs homes range from $24,000 to $83,000, and in City View from $60,000 to $75,000. The more expensive homes are to the south with views of Wascana Creek and the Wascana Country Club.
