Sightseeing Suggestions
Here are some quick suggestions for visitors with limited time in the city: The schedule is only a suggestion -- you may have more fun, or wish to take more time than mentioned below.

One Day Stay
To capture the essence of this city, here are suggestions for your first day (especially if its your only day) in Regina.
  • Start along Wascana Lake, which is dammed at its west end, where Albert Street meets Regina Ave (the road from Regina’s airport). This is the soul of the city, making it an oasis in the middle of the bald prairie. Royal Saskatchewan Museum
  • The Royal Saskatchewan Museum explores the province’s history from ancient times to recent settlement.
  • In front of the Museum, you have a panoramic view that includes Wascana Centre, Willow Island (with a ferry to take you over), the CBC Building, and the Bandstand by the water.
  • The Saskatchewan Legislature, both the seat of provincial government and the start of many famous politicians’ careers, and the Plains Indians Museum inside
  • MacKenzie Art Gallery, with great collections of Canadian artists plus major travelling exhibitions.
  • Diefenbaker Homestead, the boyhood home of Saskatchewan’s native son who went on to be Canada’s prime minister from 1957 - 1963
  • Continue on Lakeshore Drive, across Broad Street, passing the Saskatchewan Center of the Arts on the right, and see the Wascana Waterfowl Park, a major stop for area and migrating waterfowl.
  • Head into the city’s downtown and enjoy the modern and unusual, as well as some of the older buildings on the prairie. Most are centered around Victoria Park.
  • The curvaceous SaskPower Building to the south, with the classic Hotel Saskatchewan beside it
  • Visit the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame and discover the province’s sports legends
  • Scarth Street Mall, guarded by the dramatic twin McCallum Hill towers, with their top corners cut off.
  • Head toward the Cornwall Centre, the province’s largest shopping mall
  • If you have any time left, head toward the Casino Regina, just before the railway tracks that mark the north edge of downtown.
Extended Visit
If you are visiting for a longer period, there are a number of destinations worth visiting:
  • Visit the North Shore of Wascana Lake, including Wascana Centre and the Saskatchewan Science Centre (with the Kramer IMAX Theare) RCMP Training Academy
  • Head just north of the Airport to the RCMP Training Facility, and the RCMP Centennial Museum
  • Head north of town on Highway 6 (Albert St) to the IPSCO Wildlife Park, with its selection of exotic and native animals.
  • Head east on Victoria Ave (Highway 1) to Maxwell’s, with its various amusements and (in the summertime) a magnificent set of waterslides.
  • Visit the many interesting towns around Regina
