Transportation: Rockies Airports
The closest international airport for the Rockies is Calgary International Airport, or "YYC" (its international aeronautical
designation). This airport is about 100 km east of Banff & Canmore, about an hour's drive. If you are heading into BC's Rockies, Calgary is about 2-1/3 hours from Radium, Invermere, Fairmont or Golden. If you are heading further south, to Kimberley, Cranbrook or Fernie, you should consider flying into Cranbrook (see below)
Edmonton's international airport (YEG) is about 4 hours from Jasper.
Cranbrook-Kimberley Aiport (YXC)From either airport you can catch a plane to Cranbrook, which is the best service for Kimberley, Cranbrook or Fernie. This airport is located off Highway 95A (at 9370 Airport Access Road), 15 km from Cranbrook and 20 km from Kimberley. Regional airlines with connections to major cities fly in/out of this site, and there is a customs unit. Car rentals are available. (250 426-7913).
