Homes: Lakeview, Lakeridge

Lakeview and Lakeridge lie east of Circle Drive, and north of the #16 Yellowhead Highway and south of Taylor St East. The land was annexed by the city in the late 1970s and home contruction peaked in the early 1980s. Lakeview was the first community in Saskatoon to feature a man-made lake, and the streets are named of Saskatchewan lakes. Lakeridge is the area east of Weyakwin Drive. New homes are being built east of Boychuk, with multi-family homes at the corner of Taylor St and Boychuck, beside the new Lakewood Shopping Centre.

Schools

This community has 2 public elementary schools, 2 Catholic elementary schools, but high school students must travel to nearby schools. The closest library is just north I the Lakewood Civic Centre, north of Taylor Street.

Shopping

There are small retail plazas in the area, along Taylor Street between Acadia Drive and Kingsmere Boulevard, and at McKercher Drive & Stillwater. The new Lakewood Shopping Centre is being constructed at Boychuck & Nemeiben Rd. For more serious shopping, locals head north to the Centre at Circle & 8th.

Recreation

The neighbourhood has two parks, Crocus Park (with 2 ball diamonds, a sport field, a tennis court, a basketball court, and an outdoor ice rink) in Lakeridge and Lakeview Park (with a lake, 5 baseball diamonds, 3 tennis courts and a summertime water splash park), in the west.

Homes

Lakeview is a middle and upper income neighbourhood mix of single-family detached homes, semi-detached or multi-famly townhouses with an average home value of $175,000 and a 73% owner-occupancy percentage. Lakeridge is considered an upper-income area, with almost everyone living in single-family detached homes, with an average value of $220,0000.
