Homes: Nutana / Queen Elizabeth / Furdale

Nutana is a primarily residential neighbourhood across the river from downtown Saskatoon, Nutana was granted in 1883 to the Temperance Colonization Society, who established the first permanent settlement in the Saskatoon area with ferry service started in 1884 to expedite traffic between Regina and Battleford. and became part of Saskatoon in 1906. The era prior to World War 1 was a boom to the ear, which still has many buildings dating back to this time,

This area of Saskatoon lies south/east of the South Saskatchewan River,and encompasses a number of neighbourhoods west of Clarence Ave and north of Circle Drive. Nutana includes the business district of Broadway Avenue. There are some early1900s homes is the area, but most of the homes in this area of Sasaktoon were not built until the Post-WorldWar II boom in the late 1940s until 1960s. Some of the older homes are now being replaced with newer infill housing.

The area includes a number of different neighbourhoods: Haultain, between 8th St East and Taylor Street E (east of Victoria, and Beuena Vista west of Victoria.. Queen Elizabeth south of Taylor Street east of Lorne Ave and Furdale west of Lorne Ave, and north of the Saskatoon Prairieland Exhibition Grounds. South of Ruth Street is the community of Avalon with its curvey streets.

Schools

This part of Saskatoon has 7 public elementary schools, 1 Catholic elementary school, and has 2 public and one Catholic high school. Ter is a public libarary, near Ashley Pak, and the area is close to the Univesity of Saskatoon campus, just to the northeast.

Shopping

Nutana is anchored around the business district of Broadway Avenue, which was once the main street when Nutana was a town. Today, Broadway Avenue has mostly independently-owned local businesses, with more shops & services along 8th Street There is an art gallery cluster at the "Temperance Street Triangle" (Temperance Street, Lansdowne Avenue & 13th Street East) and at Broadway Avenue & Taylor Street.

Recreation

For fitness buffs, there is the Meewasin Trail on the south/east bank of the South Saskatchewan River. There are outdoor pools in Holliston and Ashley parks. To the southwest, with it hiking trails and cross-country ski trails. There are significant recreational resources on the U of S campus, nearby. There are several golf courses south of Highway 16 and the Exhibitions grounds

For arts and culture, there is the Broadway Theatre, a designated municipal heritage property, and is Saskatoon's only community-owned & operated cinema and live performance venue. There is also the Off Broadway Arts Centre with a dinner theatre and children's theatre program. There is also the Refinery Arts & Spirit Centre is a multi-purpose facility, and the Memorial Art Gallery,

There are a number of venues at the Saskatoon Prairieland Exhibition Grounds., including the Emerald Casino, the Marquis Downs horse racing track, Exhibition stadium and the 1910Western Development Museum.

Homes

Nutana has about 7,000 residents and is a mix of single-family detached homes and apartment-style multiple unit dwellings which made it a middle to upper-income area, with average home prices of $206,830 .
