Sault Ste. Marie is an exciting city with a wide range of educational institutions.
Algoma University College
Algoma University College had its first students in September of 1967. It rapidly grew to
over 1000 students by 1969-70. The citizens of Sault Ste Marie provided major funding
assistance to the University College. Since 1973 the University College has under gone major constructional improvements.
Now Algoma's facilities are as modern as any in the province. The University College intends
to remain relatively small where students and faculty can study and learn in at
a maximum level. Courses toward a degree are offered both day and evening. Students may enroll

Sault College
This college is on Northern Avenue in the north end of town. Begun in 1965 as the Ontario Vocational
Centre, today provides full-time and part-time courses for over 7,000 registrants annually.
More than 60 postsecondary career preparation programs range from one to three years
and include several "co-operative" work-experience programs. For more

Lake Superior State University (U.S.)
