The City of Mount Pearl is nestled between St John's to the north and the intersection of Highways 1 and 2, and is home to the Donovan Industrial Park (the city's largest) and the Federal Experimental Farm. This is a great bedroom community for St John's and is an easy commute into town as well as to Conception Bay South. It has excellent athletic facilities and connection to the Newfoundland T'Railways system.
Schools
Mount Pearl has 4 public elementary schools and one Catholic elementary school, and secondary students attend Mount Pearl High School. The community is a few kilometres away from Memorial University and Cabot College.
Shopping
The community has a number of shopping malls including Sobey's Centre, Centennial Square, and Pearlgate Centre. There is a new Loblaw's grocery store underway at Blackmarsh & Columbus.
Recreation
This community is surrounded by undeveloped greenspace, especially to its north along the Waterford River pathway which forms part of the Newfoundland T'Railways system. For other fitness activities, there is the Pearlgate Track & Field complex, the Glacier and Smallwood arenas, a couple of tennis courts and the Stapleton outdoor pool. The local movie complex is the Empire 5 Mount Pearl in Sobey's Square mall. The local horse racing track is not far away in Goulds, but is open more for simulcast races & better at other tracks rather than hosting its own races in recent years.
