Transportation: Buses
If you are travelling as a group, or if you are traveling alone, taking the bus makes a lot of sense.
Sudbury has several bus-friendly transportation options for the traveller.
Greyhound (705-524-9900, 1 800 661 8747) is the major bus company to points east, west and south.
Sudbury is the major connecting point for its buses to southern Ontario (Toronto),
eastern Canada (Ottawa, Montreal), and Western Canada (Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver).
Ontario Northland (705-524-9900) which also runs the trains from Toronto to Cochrane to
Moosonee, has scheduled service between Toronto and Timmins with stops at Barrie, North Bay,
Timmins, and Hearst on one route and Barrie, Parry Sound, Sudbury, and Timmins on another.
Northland offers connections to over 50 northern Ontario communities, and in Toronto, can
drop you off at the International Airport, Yorkdale shopping centre, or the downtown bus depot.
Buses leave from the terminal at 854 Notre Dame Ave. For travel in the Sudbury area,
particularly to/from Valley East, contact Northway Bus Lines (705-674-0707) which offers
transit and commuter service to the area.
If you need to get into town from the airport, the Sudbury Airport Shuttle
(previously under Airporter Airline Taxi Service) is the only provider of "bus"
transportation to and from the airport (705-566-0375 or toll free 1 866 230-3332). The rates vary
upon location, but one person to downtown is $20 with
group pricing for additional travelling companions. If you are staying at an area hotel,
your front desk clerk can arrange a timely pickup to return to the airport.
