Homes: City of Colwood

Colwood has 14,000 residents in this once-rural community, nestled between View Royal and Langford.. The community is dominated by the large National Defence property at Royal Roads University, though residents have plenty of shore access, including along the pretty Esquimalt Lagoon. The community is also the site of the Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Park and the Fisgard Lighthouse national Historic Site. The Juan de Fuca Recreational Centre is the recreational focus of the area.

The neighbourhoods found in Colwood include: Royal Roads, Colwood Corners, Hatley Park, Colwood Lake, Sunridge, Traiangle, Lagoon, Wishart South, Latoria, and Gravel Pit.
Schools
The community has six public schools and the Dunsmuir High School. There are two public libraries. The Royal Roads University occupies a block of National Defence land adjacent to the Esquimalt Lagoon.

Shopping
Colwood has couple of large shopping malls, being the shopping centrum for the area west to Sooke, including Canwest and Colwood.

Recreation
Colwood has two golf courses, Juan de Fuca and the Royal Colwood. The Juan de Fuca Recreational Centre has facilities for almost any sport, including swimming and skating. There is a velodrome beside it for bicycle racing. On the northern edge of the community is the Thetis Lake Park, with several lakes (for boating and swimming), hills, and hiking trails. On the easter edge of the community, on the Esquimalt Harbour are the Fort Rodd Hill and Lisgard Lighthouse Historic sights, with great water views. You can also head south along Ocean Boulevard, with the Esquimalt Lagoon on one side and the Juan de Fuca Strait on the other. The Galloping Goose Regional Trail connects Colwood with Sooke going west, and also to Victoria, Esquimalt and Saanich to the east.
