    Winnipeg Transit, is a city-owned organization which runs the bus system. To use transit you must pay a fare with exact change, tickets, bought in books of ten, or show a monthly bus pass.

    Effective January 1, 2008
    * Eligibility for reduced fare: Children: age 5 to 16 (4 and under free with fare paying passenger). High School Students: age 17 - 21 with a valid GoCARD Photo I.D. Seniors: age 65 & over with a valid Federal Government Blue Card or a Transit Photo I.D. If you do not have your ID with you, you will be charged regular fare. You must carry your ID to use reduced fare tickets.

    Transfers
    Free with your cash or ticket fare, a "Power Hour" transfer takes you wherever you want to go by transit for one hour. You must request a transfer when you pay your fare and can only be used by the person to whom it was issued. Transfers are valid on any regular bus route on the date of issue and allow travel in any direction, including stopovers and return trips on the same route, until the expiry time shown, approximately 60 minutes! If you're unsure of the expiry time, ask your driver.

    Access for Persons with Limited Mobility

    Handi-Transit provides public transportation to physically disabled individuals unable to use regular Transit service. Door to door service is provided using specially equipped vehicles and taxi cabs.

    Handi-Transit Service Hours:
    Weekdays: 7 am to 12 midnight
    Saturdays: 8 am to 12 midnight
    Sundays/Holidays: : 9 am to 10 pm

    Registration is required to use Handi Transit, with certain eligibility requirements apply. Please call us at 986-5722 for more information.

    Downtown Flyer

    Winnipeg Transit makes getting around downtown easy with the "Downtown Flyer" shuttle bus service. The Downtown Flyer buses are easy to spot, coloured bright teal, purple and white. No hassles about driving or parking and for only 25¢ (free for those under 5 years)! Regular cash, ticket or pass fares and valid transfers will also be accepted. Transfers will be issued to persons paying the regular cash or ticket fare, upon request.

    Park & Ride

    If a bus doesn't operate near your home, or you're tired of traffic congestion and parking hassles, you may find Winnipeg Transit's Park & Ride service a good alternative. You can park your car free of charge and ride the bus to your destination. You should first sign up for a free Park & Ride permit at one of the participating locations. You may then park your car in the designated parking area and board a convenient transit express bus. Parking permits are limited and you can use the special free parking stalls at the following sites around Winnipeg:

    DART Buses

    DART is Winnipeg Transit's special buses for off-peak residential service, currently offered in three service areas;
    • DART 101 in St. Amant-Plaza Drive,
    • DART 102 in Southdale-Island Lakes,
    • DART 109 in St. Norbert.
    These buses are the same fare as regular buses.
