If you are travelling as a group, or if you are traveling alone, taking the bus makes a lot of sense. Charlottetown has several bus-friendly transportation options for the traveller. The terminal in Charlottetown is at 156 Belvedere Avenue (902) 566-9744. You can catch, or connect to, the following bus lines:
- Acadian Lines (to/from Nova Scotia)
- Greyhound Canada (to/from Ontario and Western Canada)
- Greyhound U.S.A. (to/from U.S.A.)
- SMT (Eastern) Ltd
- Voyageur (to/from Quebec and Ontario)
If you need to get into town from the airport, just take the taxi. A one-way fare from downtown is $10-15, what a shared shuttle bus would cost in most cities.You can also charter a bus for special group travel, whether its a company or team visiting the city, a ball game, or going skiing.
Scheduled Bus Transportation
SMT has two buses a day from Charlottetown to Moncton (fares are $34 one-way), from where you can transfer to other destinations and/or to VIA Rail.

VIA RAIL leaves Moncton for Halifax at 11:30, except Wednesdays; and leaves for Montreal and points west at 18:10, except Tuesdays. VIA RAIL from Montreal and points west arrives in Moncton at 11:10am, except Tuesdays; and from Halifax at 17:50pm, except Tuesdays.
From Moncton, the 7:45 and 14:20 buses go on to St. John and Fredericton (and also offer connections, from Moncton, to other points); and the 17:45 bus goes via Amherst and Truro to Halifax, where there are connections to the rest of Canada.

In the off-season, buses leave Moncton at 9 am daily, 2 pm daily, and 8:15 pm (Friday & Sunday), arriving in Charlottetown 3 hours later. Buses leave Charlottetown at 7:45 am daily, 2 pm daily, and 5:15 pm (Sunday/Friday) and arrive in Moncton 2:35 hours later.
Halifax to Summerside & Charlottetown
PEI Express Shuttle (PEIshuttle.com 902-462-8177 Toll-free: 877 877-1771) has a daily bus leaving Halifax/Dartmouth around 6:30 (Halifax International Airport about 7:45 am) arriving Summerside 11 am, and Charlottetown 11:30. The bus returns leaving at 11:45 and Summerside at 12:30 pm, arriving at Halifax International Airport at 3:20 and Halifax/Dartmouth by 5 pm. Fares run $55 one way (taxes included).
Advanced Shuttle Service (902-886-3322, Toll-free: 877 886-3322) also has a shuttle between Charlottetown and Halifax (no details provided)
Sample fares Charlottetown-Summerside adult one way $10.50; student one-way $9.40; Charlottetown-Moncton, one way $34, student one-way $30. Plus taxes.
Charlottetown-Cavendish
PEI Express Shuttle (PEIshuttle.com 902-462-8177 Toll-free: 877 877-1771) has a bus between Charlottetown & Cavendish which runs daily from June 15 - Sept 15. Departs Charlottetown 09:15 and 16:15 Departs Cavendish 10:15 and 17:15
Beach Shuttle
This bus connects Charlottetown to Cavendish
with two return trips from early June to end of September and four return trips from late Jly 1 to Labour Day.
Fares are $25/person return (same day only), $15 one way.

Shoulder: 9 am and 4 pm
from Cavendish
Summer: 10:15 am, 12:45 am, 3:45 pm and 6:15 pm
