The Town of Killam is located in east-central Alberta at the junction of highways 13 and 36. These highways carry important traffic for the oil and gas fields in the area, and lead to the scenic lake country to the north. Killam has an indoor swimming pool, recreation and nature parks. This town is well-known for its highway sign: "Drive Carefully Avoid Accidents KILLAM".

The town was named in 106 by the Canadian Pacific Railway after Albert Clements Killam, who was western Canada's fisrt appointment to the Supreme COurt of Canda in 1903, and went on to be chief commissioner of the Board of Railway Commissioners from 1904-1908.

Annual Events include the Killam Rodeo (mid June).
