Orangeville is located in Dufferin County, and is at the headwaters of the Credit River. The community was originally known as 'the Mills' for its sawmill and flour mills built in 1832. The community was renamed for an early settler, Orange Lawrence. Today, the town is a cluster of old buildings, including a restored 1907 Canadian Pacific Railways Station, The 1875 Town Hall which now serves as Opera House, and many fine art galleries and antique stores.
