Earth Day Event

entral Lake Ontario Conservation's annual Earth Day event this year being held at Bowmanville/Westside Marshes Conservation Area in Bowmanville. The event will run--rain or shine--on Saturday from 9:00am until noon. Volunteers of all ages are needed to create various habitat enhancements by getting down and dirty to plant a wildlife corridor, construct and install some songbird boxes along with building nesting habitat for turtles. 905-579-0411, ext. 0

Fabulous Fifties Festival and Sidewalk Sale

Return to the era of rock-and-roll music, distinctive classic cars. The Sidewalk Sale begins on Thursday, On Saturday, the street is closed to vehicle traffic where a co-ed beach volleyball tournmanet takes place on real beach sand right in the middle of King and Temperance Streets. Three DJ's will be playing the "Golden Oldie"s" from the 1950's at three locations in the downtown and over 130 classic automobiles will be on display from one end of to the other. Businesses open Thursday from 9 a. m. until 9 p.m., and again on Friday, including live entertainment after 6 p.m. Saturday the businesses are open from 9 a. m. until 5 p.m. 905-623-2997.
