University of Saskatchewan Huskies The U of S's varsity teams are all called "Huskies". The University's football team have been dubbed "the team of the ninties" winning the Vanier Cup (top Canadian University team) three times ('90, '96, '98). Other U of S varsity teams which play other Universities across western Canada include the sports of Basketball, Hockey, Volleyball, Football, Wrestling, Track & Field, Soccer, (306) 966-4343. Bridge City Speedway Saskatoon's motor speedway attracts 2,000 fans every other Friday night from April until October (with special shows on Saturdays). Weekly races and drag races thrill car enthusiasts, beginning at 7:30 pm. Located on Range Rd, 1.6 km north of Attridge Drive, just past the Forestry Farm. 306-651-3278 (651-RACE) Marquis Downs Racecourse Live thoroughbred racing and simulcasts from June to September. Facilities at Prairieland Exhibition Park include three fully licensed restaurants. Free admission, free parking. After race season (November to May) simulcast racing moves to the Emerald Casino. 306-242-6855. Saskatchewan International Raceway (S.I.R.) Home of Saskatchewan's NHRA Championship Drag Racing on a quarter mile straight track.
