Homes: Downtown
[ Other Neighbourhoods | Neighbourhoods Map ] This part of St John's is north of downtown and CA Pippy Park and includes the neighbourhoosd of Quidi Vidi, Mount Cashel, East Meadows, King William Estates, Virginia Lake and Pentanguishene. The homes around Virginia Lake, particularly along the shore in King William Estates, have large lots and very desirable. This part of town also has a number of apartment buildings and row houses. 
The community is very accessible to the eastern end of the #1 Trans-Canada Highway, and to St John's International Airport. The Janeway Children's Health Centre and the Miller Health Centre are on the east side of the area and MUN's Health Science Centre is just to the south.
Schools This area is lower density than other parts of St John so has only two elementary schools. High school students attend the MacDonald Drive school. This part of St Johns is the location of Memorial University of Newfoundland ("MUN"), the MUN Marine Institute and Cabot College of Applied Technology. Shopping This part of St John's has the Torbay Mall and the Croaker Meadow Plaza, both on the Torbay Rd, and is home to the Big Box stores on Stavenger Rd, just north of the #1. 
Recreation Thee area is crossed by two paths in the Grand Concourse Walkways network, one passing from Wuidi Vidi Lake past Bally Haly golf course to Kenny's and Kent's Pond and CA Pippy Park, the other connects QWQuidi Vidi Lake via the Rennie River to the Confederation Building Complex, Memorial University and CA Pippy Park. Key attractions in this part of the city include Quidi Vidi Lake, Village and Battery as well as Signal Hill. This area has access to two golf courses: Bally Haly and Clovely (to the north) Community Map
