The Manitoba Theatre Centre was founded in 1957 as Canada's first English�language regional theatre, and gained much critical acclaim. MTC has hosted the annual Winnipeg Fringe Festival since 1987, which attracts 30,000 people a year. The Manitoba Theatre Centre season hosts six plays which run from September to April, while the Winnipeg Fringe Festival takes place during the third week of July.
